About The Pediatric Village
The Pediatric Village opened its doors in 2000. It is a comprehensive ambulatory pediatric facility providing a multicultural staff to an ethnically diverse population from the prenatal period through adolescence. The Pediatric Village provides an innovative approach to the medical support of the child as a member of its nuclear family as well as its extended family in the community. In this regard, it provided the first African American pediatrician to the Spring Valley, Chevy Chase regions of Washington, DC. It also includes a comprehensive lactation program with support through information, equipment, and a lactation specialist on the premises.
The Pediatric Village, in addition to routine preventive health management and acute care of infants, children, and adolescents, approaches the developing child as a member of its extended community or village. It provides programs from the holistic perspective to enhance the skills of the parents or nuclear family in the today's fast-paced society. These programs include, but are not limited to, infant massage, lactation services, and infant/child CPR.
